Macbook Battery Saving by Processor Management

Battery, that would be the common issues with us whom using laptop or notebook as our main computer. Imagine the condition while you’re browsing or in the middle of presentation, the battery run out, its such a shame.

Despite you could reduce the consume of battery with minimal background lighting, yet it might be more helpful for you with processor management.

The processor management I’m about to discuss is related into MacBook computer which usually equipped with CoreDuo processor. Instead of using two core of processor, one processor is enough for simple browsing or open simple application.

With these processor management, of course the battery consumption would be reduce, since only one processor is being used.

In order to do that, you could use below tips.
CPUPalette is one of many application focusing in processor management which you could find freely on the internet.
Download the software and open your finder Library -> Application Support.
Next, create a folder named “HWPrefs” and put your “CPUPalette” application inside it.
Run the software, and you will be able to see similar view such as performance in your task manager (windows).
Click the second processor to inactive it.

If you like to run your computer tuning with iTunes on all night, you could try auto battery saving with below tips.
create new crontab:

crontab -e

Type below code:

0 0 * * * /usr/bin/hwprefs cpu_disable 2
30 5 * * * /usr/bin/hwprefs cpu_enable 2

Save your crontab and execute it.

The first line of the command will inactivate second processor after 00.00, while the second line will reactivate it again after 05.30. You could edit with your desire time. Good luck.
